Songs of Jonathan
Wanting to tell me wife my love for her, I went to Songs of Solomon in the Bible. Feeling an urge from the Spirit to write my own poem instead of using what’s in the book, I began writing. Also, let’s be honest, it’s not so sexy in today’s world to tell a woman that you make her think of goats and chariots. I don’t think those relations in love poems from those days exactly translate well to women in 2024. hahaha!
Enjoy.

Your eyes glisten like the still crisp clear waters of the Caribbean at sunrise.
Your skin glows like a full moon, when it feels as though you could just reach out and touch it.
Your soul irradiates its passion for love like the warmth of the sunlight hitting your face on a cool morning.
I look to you for warmth when my own body can hardly bear the frigid cold of this world.
You offer a piece of your heart as readily as a mother a hug to her crying child.
I’m left with nothing else to desire except my own relationship with the creator of the Universe.
You and our beautiful children are more than I deserve and expect from this breath that will vanish like vapor in the wind.
I love you my dearest lovely love. - John.
